DIY Planted Aquariums..

Planted aquarium with Neon tetras
Friends have you ever heard about this "The Planted Aquarium", sounds good right. Looking at this picture itself you would have been very eagerly waiting to know how to DIY and maintain that at home at a very low cost. I have been through many websites before making my own planted aquarium but I could see none of a post telling how to make it on a very low budget, every DIY projects of planted aquarium costs at-least $20 that is around 1,200 Indian rupees. I think that is very costly. I don't think everyone would easily afford this much in making a Planted Tank.
My intention is to make, which was personally experimented by me and I would suggest the beginners to try this at your own aquarium tank. Any aquarium lovers can try this at your home.

This article is mainly based on the assumption that you guys will have a basic knowledge about the live plants and fishes.

Minimum requirement

  1.      Aquarium Tank *
  2.      Internal Filter/ Water Circulator cum filter*
  3.      Garden soil (Red soil or Pond mud)*
  4.      Some natural fertilizers like cow dung*
  5.      Some Driftwoods if available
  6.      Rocks
  7.      River Sand*
  8.      Live Plants*
  9.      LED Bulbs/ UV light Bulbs
So let's see the steps!

Step 1: Make sure that you have selected an appropriate place for the aquarium that you are going to setup. Take the garden soil and fertilizer (cow-dung recommended) in the proportion of 3:1 mix them well and place them in the sunlight for some time to make them little dry.

Step 2: Place the tank in the appropriate place where you like and add the mixture of garden soil and fertilizer to the tank so that it will cover about 5 inches of the tank.

Step 3: Plant the live plants (hydrilla, Vallisneria, and other fast growing plants not recommended) (java moss, Christmas moss, and slow growing plants are highly recommended)

Step 4: Now add the sand on top of the mixture for about 1 inch. This is very important step because this layer protects the soil from turning up into the mud.

Step 5: Next step is to add water. Here you need to add water gently because if you pour water just like that you will end up spoiling the entire setup so add water very gently.

Step 6: Leave the setup for few hours and then you may find some dust particles or something similar to that floating (*not necessarily) on the surface. Take them out and refill some fresh water.

Step 7: Add an internal filter to the setup which will clear up all the residues and the fish poo, and gently circulate the water. If you think the oxygen level in the water is not enough for the fishes just place the internal filter little above the water surface it will provide necessary oxygen to the aquarium.

Step 8: You need to provide necessary lighting to the aquarium as you all know that light is very much needed for plants growth.

I 'll soon update this article in a very detailed manner.
